ANNA MILLER MUSEUM

The Weston County Museum District serves as a depository and provides professional conservator care of the artifacts of Weston County while maintaining and creating historical exhibits which are a significant part of Weston County history. It maintains both the Anna Miller Museum in Newcastle, Wyoming, and the Red Onion Museum in Upton, Wyoming.

The above image shows one of Newcastle’s truly historic events, never to be forgotten. On May 25, 1903, President Teddy Roosevelt visited Newcastle. From an elaborate platform built for the occasion, the President gave a speech to hundreds of local fans. The platform was built at the intersection of Warren Avenue — today’s Main Street — and Seneca Street. The background of the image shows the north side of today’s Main Street. The large brick building flying American flags was built in 1890 as the Bank of Newcastle. Over the years, it has served as a bank, café, fabric store, gun shop and leather shop. Today, it’s a ceramics store.

Weston County Museum District is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded Museum Director to lead daily operations, curate engaging exhibits, and guide our museum into its next exciting chapter.  The candidate must be passionate about history, organized, creative, and ready to connect with the community.
